West End Trail journeys between thick pine trees and may inspire kids to dream of being lost in fairy tale woods. Usually, this rather short trail is used while attempting the Backside Loop, or as a connector between Mount Helena Ridge Trail and the summit of Mount Helena.
From Charlie’s Trailhead, this trail climbs for a quarter of a mile to the junction of Seven Sisters Trail and Old Chevy Trail. From there, you can explore myriad trails on the west side of Mount Helena, including O.G.R. Trail, Road to Mars Trail, and the Northwest Passage.
The East Helena Prickly Pear Park features several fishing access sites along the creek. By the water, various waterfowl and other wildlife can be seen enjoying their wetlands habitat. Please follow Fish, Wildlife and Parks regulations for fishing, and try to leave some for the next angler!
O.G.R. connects Le Grande Cannon Trail to Old Chevy on the northwest side of Mount Helena. The trail is a steep climb through pine trees, but can be a really fun descent on a mountain bike.
Starting in the middle of the woods, on the east side of Mount Ascension, the Eddye McClure West Trail is a lovely hike up to the summit of the mountain. Offering both shaded and sunny areas, this trail allies whimsicality and stunning views with a rewarding climb.

Unprepared for the summer heat and without a hat, this trail might indeed have you dazed and confused. The path does not offer much shade, but does display gorgeous views of the Wakina Sky area and distant mountains. This trail is quite popular for downhill biking.
