PROGRAMS
We’re creating a healthy future for all Montanans by protecting the places where we work, play, and learn.
Land Protection
Land protection agreements permanently protect private land from development so that future generations can benefit from working lands, wildlife habitat, and clean water. PPLT works in Lewis & Clark, Powell, Jefferson, and Broadwater counties and nearby areas.
Public Access
Public access to the outdoors is the heart of our work. Prickly Pear Land Trust has built more than 80 miles of trails in Helena’s South Hills, protected and added almost 700 acres to Mount Ascension Park and Mount Helena City Park, and created three new parks – Tenmile Creek, Grove, and Prickly Pear Park.
Lifelong Learning
Our education program reaches thousands of students and community members annually, inspiring curiosity, joy, and a commitment to conservation and stewardship. Hands-on environmental education improves academic performance and attendance and turns today’s students into tomorrow’s advocates for land and water.
